Simple Hook-Up Not Simple to Me

I want to hook-up a DVD player (Panasonic DVDRV32 ), a DVD recorder (Panasonic DMR-ES15) and a TV (JVC 27D305) to my incoming cable. I want to be able to record either the cable signal or the DVD player output, and view either the cable picture or the player picture at the same time. I am too new to this to pick out the hook up guide that will do what I want. Can I get help here please?

The choice of guides there is so broad (they include more elements than what I am interested in) so that I don't know which guide to use.
