Now here's a challenge I haven't been able to solve, or find anywhere else, and boy have I been looking!

I just purchased a Zenith DVD/Audio system, and connected it to my Scientific Atlanta Cable box and Sharp SDTV as instructed here:

http://www.amethystone.net/img001.jpg

I connected the TV to the DVD/Audio using the component cables,as diagrammed, and connected the cable box as an "external" connection using the red and white audio plugs.

Now this would suffice, except for one issue.

I can get sound fine through the DVD player (set on DVD) and through the TV (set on Aux), however, my Zen Vision:M MP3/Video player no longer has a home.

I used to be able to hook up the portable player to my TV (on one of the television's 3 auxiliary channels) with the yellow/red/white A/V plugs, and it would would play through the TV speakers alone.

Now I can hook it up to the TV and get video, but no audio at all, and no other plugs on either the cable box or DVD/Audio system will route video or sound for my portable player.

Since the DVD/Audio system only gives me 1 Aux choice other than the DVD player, then I can only suppose that it's up to my TV to bear the players load and route the video and audio, but I'm at a loss as to how to get that to happen.

I'm guessing that I may need to find a a way to re-wire the cable box, DVD and TV, so that my player will still be able to route sound and video through the DVD/AV system.

And that's why I'm here.

Thanks for this forum, and thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Thanks for the reference. I scoured the links most of the day and found nothing in regards to my issue at all.

Either I'm clearly missing something, or my portable just does not fit in the equation, and I don't see how *that* can be possible.

Wow. I was hoping by now that someone here would be able to figure out this puzzle! By the lack of response, I guess I can assume that what I'm asking is just ... impossible to do?

Thanks anyway for taking a look~

May have an issue with the player?
This remark:

I don't get it, what are you trying to say?

I followed that remark with the explanation:

Sorry, thought I'd made that clear.

The bottom line is that I'm trying to utilize the DVD/audio system to route sound from my player.

Have you tried the player on something else or tried another wire?

Yes, I can play the player on the TV, but only get TV sound.

The reason I posted here is because I can not figure out a hookup system to get my MP3/Video player to route sound through my DVD/surround sound. I've tried connecting it to every jack I can think of (cable box, audio, tv) and all combinations to no avail. I was just hoping that there was someone who posted here that had experience with this same issue, because I've tried every other option I know.

It's clear that my problem can't be solved here (and probably not at all), but again, thanks anyway.

Give the make and model of each device involved. I'm sure Jonathan can figure something out for you.

As Jody (CableWithAView) suggested, please provide the makes and models of the equipment so we can look more deeply into the issue.
