Well, here goes. I looked around a bit before this post as to try not to repeat my request. Equipment involved are as follows.

Cable Ones Motorola DCT6412 III, HD/DVR
Onkyo AV Receiver HT R520
Samsung DVD-R135
Samsung TXS 3082 HDTV

What I want to finally accomplish is to be able to record from the DVR to my DVD-R, without having to unhook and rehook any connections to do so (as someone at Circuit City said I would have to do)

I had a DVD/VHS player combo, that I disconnected and added my Samsung DVD-R to. I transfered all the necessary connections to get DVD playback. I now want to hookup to my recorder function to be able to record from the Cable set top's DVR. To me it looks as if this can be accomplished by going through my AV receiver without much difficulty. The available connections I have on back of the DVD-R, are the AV-1 source that includes RCA R and L audio and an RCA video, and also an S-Video, all in connections. On the back of my AV Receiver I am thinking I could use the Video 1 in/out connections to do this. They consist of RCA R,L audio in and out, RCA Video in and out and also S-Video in and out. Right now the Audio in is being used by a patch from the TV. Would it be plausible to connect the S-Video in from the DVR for the video source and then connect from the RCA out jacks for R,L audio and the RCA video to the in side of the DVD-R? Let me know if this sounds as if it would work, as the guy at Circuit City seemed to think it wouldn't, but I don't think he thought much about it be fore saying it wouldn't. Thanks in advance!
