I have a 3250 scientific atlantic box that I just got from e-bay. I have the other one from cox and it works fine. I need to know how to get the one I just got to work. What do I need to do? All I get is four dash lights on it. No power light or by pass light. What do I have have to do. If I have to i will call the cable company once I get this to work so I can turn the other one in. Please let me know what I need to do.

Welcome, sadly though I think it sounds like a refund maybe in order.
Most cable operators here (in the US) do not like activating boxes that are not theirs. The main reason is support for that box. With the one you have now, that fee you pay monthly just for it goes into support for it, example: software upgrades, technical issues. As for owning one, you don't have the support their for it. Something happens to it, you have to eat the cost. Some people on EBay sell these things that are considered stolen (put it nicely, MIA;) ), boxes with issues and what have you. In some cases an operator may support and authorize your box but you need to call first to verify this before going further.
