I have regular basic cable coming into my house and it's plugged into the coaxial input on my TV. I want to be able to get the cable on my projector but it doesn't have a coaxial input. How do I do this?
On the back of my projector I have VGA x 2, S-Video, composite, DVI. And I also have a component - VGA converter cable so therefore I could say it has component input as well.
So what I was thinking is putting the coaxial into a VCR and then hooking a composite (RCA) cable from the VCR output to the RCA input on the TV. Will this work? I tried it with a VCR and it didn't work. Is there a better way to do it?
The projector I have is an Optoma 1690.

Danny:
You might have to have the VCR in record to have the composite video/audio output from the red/yellow/white connectors. That's not a good solution, even if it works.
You might want to look into THIS (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2486440&cp=&sr=1&origkw=converter&kw=converter&parentPage=search), or try a standard cable converter with a video ouput.

I took a look at that but couldn't quite figure out exactly what it does. It's not listed anywhere if it takes a coaxial input, is it basically just a TV tuner?

Danny:
The Optoma is a great computer/TV projector, but you'll need to convert the RF to video using a demodulator or (more likely) an off-the-shelf multi-input cable converter from Radio Shack or Siig.
Take a look at the SIIG CE-AV1012-S1. It is exactly what you want.
I've attached the manual for the SIIG to this post.
I'm not sure if its available locally in Canada, but I suspect you can order it for delivery. Radio Shack sells it online, as do many other vendors.
Best of luck,
Jonathan

Radio Shack in Canada is now The Source by Circuit City. :alieneye:

Not quite, there are still some Radioshack stores in Canada. There's one in the Chinook mall here in Calgary, or atleast there was a few months ago.
But I checked The Source and they don't have it. I can't find one Canadian supplier that carries this, not Futureshop or Best Buy either. I even looked it up on Google and couldn't find anywhere which ships to Canada. Both Newegg and Amazon have it, but it's not listed on their Canadian websites, only the USA side.

I ended up just buying this. It's the Centrios EDW8020 DVD recorder. It was on clearance from $400 down to $100 and I got the last one left in the city, it was a demo model, but who cares. And personally I would never pay $400 for it but for $100 it's awesome. I now get cable TV on my projector, although it's not great quality, it's better than TV. I just have to keep switching back to 4:3 when I want to watch TV.
