Hook up dvd through vcr to older- 1 jack- tv

I am definitely a newbie.

I have a slightly different problem. I have a tv with one jack (for cable). I will use the setup diagram provided in this site to hook up the vcr through cable box to tv. However, I would like to use my dvd player. Can I hook up this dvd player through the vcr? Or prefereably, I would like to hook the dvd player to the cable box but found out that's not possible.

Any help would be great. Thanks very much
