Have not got a clue.:headbang:

let me start by saying i am new to all of this, hd tvs, forums, even my pc. now onward, in the last year i have gone on disability with health problems. Now i find myself watching more and more tv for lack of being able to get out much. i have got a new samsung LN-s4095D hi def tv, a new sony STR-DG500 AV, RCA DRC8052NC dvd recorder and a sanyo dwm-400 dvd vcr combo. i have time warner cable with the new S.A explorer 8300 HD STB. my problem i cant get them to all work together. i have looked at your pdf hookups but cant find one that will get it all going. All my items have the newest connections except rca and sanyo do not have hdmi. do you think its possible to hook all this together so all will do what they should do? if you can help that would be great and if you cant i understand. thanks

:Welcome2CableTV:

Here is some tips from SA concerning different hook ups: http://cabletv.com/tech-questions-answers/3719-scientific-atlanta-cisco-set-top.html

You may have to split off the RCA and Sanyo and use a different source input on your TV for those.

Thanks for the info. What i would like to be able to do is to record some movies on to dvds with my recorder and change some of my vcr tapes over to dvds. If i put the RCA and Sanyo on a different source input would i be able to do that. or can that even be done. not much use having a dvd recorder if you cant record.

As long as the material you are recording is not copyrighted, then you should be able to record form VHS to DVDR or analog cable to either combo or DVDR.

Got everything working, was hopeing to be able to copy my vcr tapes to the dvd recorder but i dont think that is going to happen. I think you need the dvd-vcr recorder for that. I can make dvds on the lower 70 channels while watching something else but if i go to the upper channels i need to be watching the same as i am recording. All in all its more than i thought i would
be able to do. by the way the picture on the Samsung LN S4095D 1080p is
awsome just in case anyone was wondering about it.

P.S. Thanks for the help.
