dvr, sat, cable hookup

Hi,

I stumbled on this forum from google while looking for a hook up help.

I have been to your hook up guide but nothing quite fits what I have which is:

Cable (but not through a box) and satellite through a new dvr hdd.

Is it possible to watch the sat and record on the cable or vise versa?

If you use two different input sources on your TV or an A/B switch, then you can switch between the two. So yes it is possible.

I am totally baffled by this problem (which by the way is not hard). I had my old vcr hooked in originally just to record from cable. Now with the new dvd/r I would like to be able to record from my sat as well.

If someone wants to help here is the connections on my various components:

Sat receiver Bell express vu 2700
........cable in / cable out, sat in,
........s-video, (out I guess) and composite out (l and r audio and video, white, red and yellow).

Daytek Dvr, 950
......Component video out (y, pb, pr)
......A/V input, composite (white, red and yellow)
......video out, yellow and an s-video
......ant. in, ant. out

JVC tv, Av-36D502
..... Input #1, composite w,r,y and s-video
...... Input #2, r,w and s-video and a component
y, pb,pr
...... cable in
...... a/v compulink ex, r and w.

The sat receiver and the t.v. are older models the Daytek is new.

I am beginning to think that I don't have the proper inlets and outlets to match things up.

Anyway thanks in advance and any help would be appreciated.
