The picture on my HDTV is zoomed in and I cannot get it zoomed back out. I know its not the a/v receiver because my DVD picture looks fine.

I've read the manual for the Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8240HD located on this forum. It appears that the remote control I have is different from the remote control pictured in the manual.

In the remote pictured in the manual "#" symbol is used to stretch/zoom the picture. On my remote, the "#" doesn't exist.

I've already gone into the general menu by hitting "settings" twice, but nothing to be found in there either.

Does anyone know if there's another setting on this remote or box to change the stretch/zoom settings???

Ron,

I also checked the manual and only found the reference to the # key zoom/unzoom.

I recommend you reboot the converter (try unplugging it from the wall socket for 1 minute), or call Cox Customer Service in San Diego and have them reset the box remotely.

If you call Cox, and if they have an alternate zoom feature on their remotes, please share it with us for those who will, no doubt, fun into the same issue.

Thanks,

Jonathan

On the cable remote there's a "settings" button. Hit the "settings" button once and scroll through the choices. You'll get to "picture size". Choose "normal" and "TADA!". Everything's back to normal!

I found this out by reading through the users guide. It did not specifically state to go into "settings" but I knew there had to be a zoom/unzoom control somewhere.

By the way, the Cox cable guy was not helpful at all.

Thanks, Ron. That's great information. Since you said that your remote was not the stock remote, please let us know what make/model it is (it should show on the tag on the rear of the remote, or perhaps under the batter). By telling us that info, it'll become searchable at the site for visitors.

Thanks, again!

Jonathan
