why does nobody talk about the company?
I suspect because there isn't much to say about them right now. Currently, most of the focus is on Adelphia, Time Warner, and Comcast.Originally Posted by ir5757

I am just postiing to let people know to avoid brighthouse if at all possible. They have really bad customer service and I mean really really bad customer service. I am switching to Verizon as soon as the cables are laid in my neighborhood.
Tampa John, what kind of problem did you have? From what I hear, people there seems to be happy w/ BH. I have been down there between Tampa and Orlando in recent years and I never heard anything bad about them. Each time I was there, the service was great and had no issues.
Hi Cablewithaview,
I have had trouble with brighthouse. It started with poor picture quality and often when I am watching cnn, it says satelite unavailable. They must use a satelite here in tampa to get the signal for things like cnn. It doesn't seem to happen in bad weater etc.
My major complaint is how I was treated by customer service. I got a supervisor named Doug. He was very rude and I was being very nice, I just asked what I could do to get better picture quality. I thought I needed a signal booster or something on my cable line. He was so rude and when I asked his last name so I could complain, I got the standard line. "we don't give out our last names since we live and work in the community bright house serves"
I have a new TV and the picture quality from bright house is below average. When I visit friends who have the new fiber optic system from Verizon, its wonderful.
My main complaint is their really bad customer service department and their policy that prevents customers from identifying bad employees is really very bad.
I would recommend against bright house from my experience, they don't deserve our business.

Try emailing your complaint straight off the corprate site. A lot of times a compliant like yours gets esculated to the higher ups which will take action to resolve the issue.
CNN among other cable networks is delivered via satellite to the head end where it is received, mixed and transmitted out on a channel. The satellite signal (digital feeds) can get corrupted by sun spots, rain fade, snow among other things, this could cause an issue with the signal for the chanel. A bad receiver can cause issues as well.
Have you added anything to the cable yourself? Sometimes misconfigured splitters and/or poor wiring (RG59) can cause lost in signal as well. Have you thought about subbing to digital? HD would be something to look into if you have a HDTV.
Good luck and hopefully you will get results.
Dear CCE,
Thanks for the advice. I had digital cable and no splitters other than one supplied by brighthouse. I have 2 television sets.
I was so unhappy with their customer service that I switched to the Verizon fiberoptic system last month. I am very happy with it.
Thanks for your feedback but cancelling brighthouse solved the problem.

Sometimes you have to do what you have to do.
