At press time Wednesday evening, retransmission consent negotiations were ongoing between the owner of two Mobile-based television stations and cable operator Cable One.
The companies had been trying since November to reach an agreement that would allow the cable company to continue carrying NBC affiliate WPMI-TV15 and independent WJTC-TV44 on cable systems in parts of Jackson County.
The prior retransmission agreement between Arizona-based Cable One and Kansas-based Newport Television, which owns WPMI and WJTC, was set to end at midnight Wednesday after having been extended twice. Without a new agreement or another extension by that time, both parties told the Press-
Register, Cable One would be forced to remove the stations from its lineup serving some 20,000 households in the Pascagoula area.
