| CableOne to provide Joplin access channel Joplin residents who are CableOne subscribers can now be updated on various city programs and services via a dedicated channel on their television: “Joplin 22," a government access channel. Information will be broadcast 24 hours/7 days a week. Messages will include information about specific events, general programs or general information regarding the city of Joplin that would be helpful to residents. The city is also planning to broadcast basic weather information, including the temperature and wind chill factor. “Joplin 22 is another way that the City is working to get news to our residents,” said City Manager Mark Rohr. “We know it is important to get information to our citizens and this provides another method to reach our audience.” Based out of the Public Information Office (PIO), the service is provided in conjunction with the city manager’s staff and the city’s information systems. As the cable franchise provider, CableOne has a contractual agreement with the City to provide the channel at no cost. KGCS-TV of Missouri Southern State University will continue to broadcast the Joplin City Council meetings, as well as other news programs focusing on City issues and services.
