CBS College Sports Seals Cablevision Deal

Network Lands On Metro New York Op’s Digital Sports Tier
By Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 5/19/2008 6:27:00 AM

CBS College Sports Network will slide on to Cablevision Systems Corp. systems come July.

Under the deal, terms of which were not disclosed, the network, formerly known as CSTV, will become part of Cablevision’s iO Sports Pak on July 1. The leading operator in the New York metro area also offers Gol TV, NBA TV, MavTV, TVG, Fox College Sports, Outdoor Channel, Fuel TV and NHL Network as part of its Sports Pak, which carries a $4.95 monthly retail price tage.

Now counting some 25 million subscribers, CBS College Sports Network is the primary rights holder for the Mountain West Conference, Conference USA, the Atlantic 10 Conference, as well as Navy athletics. The network, which became integrated into CBS Sports in January and officially changed its name from CSTV in March, also features games and events from the Big Ten, Southeastern, Big 12, and nearly a dozen other conferences.

The network, which also presents College Sports Tonight, a twice nightly studio show, offered distributors the "NCAA March Madness Highlights" video on-demand package from the 2008 men’s Division 1 basketball tournament, plus archival footage from tourneys past.

“CBS College Sports Network is thrilled to join a robust line up of great sports networks in the iO Sports Pak, serving the interests of college sports fans throughout the New York marketplace,” said CBS College Sports Network executive vice president of distribution Bob Rose in a statement. “We will connect iO customers, including alumni, young fans and student athletes to the college teams and sports they care most about.”
