Insight promotes 3 execs

Insight Communications has announced the promotion of three of its executives.

Melani Griffith has been promoted to SVP of programming and video services, where she will be responsible for all aspects of the MSO’s video product, including content strategy, product enhancements, competitive analysis, pricing and bandwidth management.

Griffith will continue to oversee Insight’s programming, including contract negotiations, the ongoing evaluation of new and existing programming networks, cost containment, and development of high-definition (HD), interactive, and on-demand content strategies. Griffith joined Insight in 2005 as VP of programming.

And Sherman Hand has been upped to the position of director of data and security, fraud and abuse. He was previously the manager of security for the MSO. In his new role, he will oversee network security, physical security and the handling of abuse of Insight services. Hand will also manage legal requests from law enforcement agencies, as well as resolve copyright infringement issues.

Finally, Scott Schneiderman has been promoted to SVP of strategy and operational finance. He joined Insight in 2004 as VP of finance and strategic planning. Schneiderman will work with the field operations team to increase operational and financial efficiencies by identifying and building tools for best practices in all operating areas, the company said.

Insight Communications is the 10th-largest cable operator in the U.S., with approximately 722,000 customer relationships in the three contiguous states of Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio. Insight offers bundled video, high-speed Internet and voice telephony services to its customers.

Last week, Insight announced that customers in its Kentucky and Indiana footprint can sign up for a turbo-charged broadband service with downstream speeds of up to 20 Mbps (story here).

The service, which is called Insight Broadband 20.0, also provides upstream speeds of up to 1.5 Mbps.
