| TELUS Broadcasts 'HiRes' Hockey to PCs, TVs TELUS will broadcast Quebec Major Junior Hockey League games in a high quality video feed that it says can be transferred from computer to home television set. Broadcast exclusively on telus.com/qmjhl, hockey fans can watch the playoff webcasts transmitted at a rate of 1 Mbit/s, some three times faster than the normal rate of 300 Kbit/s, the telecom provider describes. "Whether they're using Internet or watching TV or on the road, consumers want to be able to access quality content," says Eric Bourbeau, TELUS director of digital content. "TELUS' Web-streamed High Quality broadcast of the QMJHL games leverages converging technologies to meet consumers needs for differentiated products while enabling them to cheer for their favourite hockey team." Developed and produced in collaboration with the Rimouski-based firm PQM.net, the High Quality broadcast services' increased speed brings bolder and clearer pictures that can be transferred in real-time to a full screen. "QMJHL fans will be able to head to telus.com/qmjhl to watch the Olympiques and the Huskies battle it out in High Quality during the President Cup finals," explained Gilles Courteau, QMJHL Commissioner. "They will experience all of the playoff action, every shot on goal, every skating manoeuvre or referee decision as if they were there. We are very pleased to be working with TELUS to offer our members and hockey fans everywhere another unique product." The High Quality experience is being offered at a promotional price of $3.95 per game. A sample of these high-transfer-rate images can be previewed on the Web. TELUS High Speed Internet users will be able to take advantage of this new service at no additional charge. The regular Webcast service will still be available at telus.com/qmjhl at no additional charge. mediacastermagazine.com - Mediacaster - 5/5/2008
