April 14 (Bloomberg) -- Telus Corp., Canada’s second- largest phone company, plans to invest more than C$700 million ($576 million) this year in its wireless and landline networks in the province of Alberta.

Telus, which trails Rogers Communications Inc. and BCE Inc. in mobile-phone subscribers, plans to start operating a faster wireless network in Alberta and nationally by early 2010. The landline investment will expand the reach of Internet and digital-TV service, Telus said in a statement today.
