    First post, dvd recorder questions

    Hello,

I recently purchased a Panasonic DVD recorder DMR-ES25S and want to hook it up using comcast digital cable using the motorola dct700 all digital box on a non-HD Sony TV. I have read all of the diagrams and instructions, but as with anything, there are better ways of doing things I'm sure. After reading a few posts, it seems that some people are having difficulty with comcast. Is it possible to record channels that are say in the 200's or higher? Also, I wanted to make sure that I had the correct hookup. Should I run my cable from outside directly into my RF on my DVD recorder or should I be running that through my TV? Also is component video the best way to go for quality (will I notice a difference from S-video)? Finally, I got the DVD recorder up and running (sort of), but now can't use the comcast remote with all of the digital features, including the menu and preview guides. Sorry if this sounds like a mess, but I am a newbie to TV techie stuff. Thanks.
