AT&T Markets TV, Internet Services To 200,000 Households In Southeastern Wisconsin

AT&T turned up the IPTV marketing heat in southeastern Wisconsin, announcing Wednesday that U-verse TV and Internet services are now available to more than 200,000 living units in and around the Milwaukee, Racine and Sheboygan areas.

The telco said it’s currently seeking to fill 200 premises technician positions across the state, including openings in northeast and south-central Wisconsin, responsible for the installation and customer care of U-verse service.

AT&T introduced U-verse TV in Wisconsin in February 2007, where it competes primarily with Time Warner Cable.

In reporting first-quarter earnings Tuesday, AT&T said it added 148,000 U-verse TV subscribers in the first three months of 2008, bringing its subscriber total to 379,000.

In a statement, AT&T Wisconsin general manager John DeVaul noted that U-verse TV carries Big Ten Network and NFL Network – two channels Time Warner Cable, for one, has declined to offer.

The state legislature in December passed the AT&T-backed Wisconsin Video Choice Act, which shifts regulatory oversight of cable companies from municipalities and counties to the state’s Department of Financial Institutions.
