THIBODAUX — City officials are in talks with AT&T to bring a new interactive digital-television service featuring more than 100 high-definition channels and an extensive video-on-demand feature to Thibodaux residents.

Led by City Attorney Germaine Jackson, the council discussed an agreement at Tuesday’s meeting that would allow AT&T to provide its television service U-verse, which connects through telephone lines.

The service would not replace the city’s current cable-television provider, Charter Communications, but increase the choices residents have.
