With AT&T Corp.’s announcement to offer its U-verse telecommunications service to Tullahoma, the city’s municipally owned LightTUBe is welcoming the challenge.

Bob Pullen, TUB’s communications/marketing director, said Friday, following AT&T’s announcement, that the city’s utility believes it offers a strong product that will keep its customers away from the competition.

"We’ve thought about it," he said, referring to AT&T’s plans. "And we welcome the competition. Competition is why we got into this business in the first place."
