New Dish Customer Hook-Up

Hi: I just got rid of my cable and had Dish installed. My problem now is that my components are not working properly. Can you provide me with a Hook-up Diagram. I have Satellite with a Duel 625 DVR Receiver to Sony TV to Tosiba VCR to Lite-on DVD Recorder. I would like to be able to record DVDs of programs that I have recorded on the DVR. or from VCR Tapes. I would also like to record TV programs on my VCR or DVD by timer. How do I ask the VCR or DVD to record a program on CHannel 300, etc. The easier you can make it the better. Thank you very much.

Hi Phil... Welcome to the site.

I'll be happy to take a stab at a hook-up diagram for you. I won't be able to tackle this until Thursday, however, because of prior commitments. In the meantime, please respond to this thread and tell me know the model numbers of the Sony, Toshiba, and Lite-on so that I can maximize what you can do with the equipment.

Best regards,

Jonathan

Phil:

Nice equipment you have, there, guy! A Toshiba TV CF30C50, Toshiba VCR W-403, Lite-On DVD player/Recorder LVW5005X, and a Dish Dual DVR Receiver 625.

Attached is a hook-up guide designed to maximize the functions of the various items. I've put some over-kill into the diagram, such as antenna inputs to all three tuners (you may not even have an outside antenna!).

I've also included a GAME BOX in the diagram should you decide you want to add that to the mix.

Most of the time you'll leave your TV set on its S-VIDEO input, and also leave the DVDr on the S-VIDEO input looking at the Dish Receiver S-VIDEO output. Note that when using S-VIDEO, don't use the yellow RCA connection on the same input or output. The RCA connection will override the S-VIDEO signal.

The video loop in and out of the VCR gives you an option to record to/from the DVDr.

The Video/audio output from the DVR 625 to the TV set lets you record between the DVDr and the VDR while still allowing you to watch satellite programming (select LINE in on your TV set).

Lots of options, lots of cables, lots of happy faces at Radio Shack!

I've attached the hook-up diagram, plus the equipment manuals (in case you have or might misplaced them ).

Good luck,

Jonathan
