Need hookup help. Please save my sanity.

I need help hooking up my system to get the most out of it. My problem is getting things hooked up to get the best sound without degrading the picture. The dvd audio goes through my AV receiver and is fine but I want the option to listen to tv normal (which is the way it is now) or through the AV receiver for surround sound. I prefer not to have the AV receiver on all the time when watching tv using the tv speakers. Can someone please help?

I have the following compenents:

Dish Network receiver 622vip

Yamaha RX-V592 AV Receiver

Panasonic DMR-Eh75V DVDVCR Recorder

Toshiba 50H81 TV which has 2 S-video inputs and two component inputs
